Training course on Mass Transit options and Bus Rapid Transit
As a post-event to the EcoMobility 2013 Suwon Congress, GIZ, EMBARQ and ICLEI jointly conducted a one day training course on September 5, 2013 in Suwon, Korea. The course focused on the various Mass Transit Options available for a city to implement and why a Bus Rapid Transit is a viable option in delivering a high quality of service and a solid transport system for the future.

Information about the speakers and their organisations:
- Mr. Manfred Breithaupt, Senior Transport Advisor, GIZ
Mr. Breithaupt has more than 25 years of experience in advocating, promoting and implementing sustainable urban transport in various cities. He is also the director of the “Sustainable Urban Transport Project”, which has helped various developing cities in implementing sustainable transport solutions.
- Mr. Amit Bhatt, Strategy Head, EMBARQ - India
As the strategy head of EMBARQ India, Mr. Bhatt has a long standing experience in working with Indian cities on identifying the areas for further improvement in urban transport. In EMBARQ he works with various national and state government bodies responsible for urban transport and gives technical assistance in implementing transport projects in cities.
- Mr. Santhosh Kodukula, Global EcoMobility Coordinator, ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability
Mr. Kodukula, is the head of the EcoMobility program at ICLEI. He has experience is working with cities in Asia and Europe on improving their sustainable transport. He has also extensively worked on urban transport performance assessment, non-motorised transportation and parking management.
